I understand, it's so unfair. The US/Russia/China cannot keep getting away playing their imperialist games and hoarding more resources than they already have.
As much as I hate to say this, we're mostly fucked in terms of resources. We(and by extension South Asia as a whole) really, REALLY do not have the advantages in resources most North American, European, China our even South American countries have right now. Even an Akhand Bharat wouldn't remotely have the rare earth reserves or freshwater reserves compared to US, Canada, Russia/China or Brazil despite having a shit ton more people than most of them.
I think if we want to stake our claim on anything, that'd be a US level dominance over the Indian ocean, with us being world police and ensuring free flow of cargo anywhere in or near the Indian ocean, and a strong claim over maybe mining it's rare Earth elements too. That can only be done through even larger investments in developing ports and shipbuilding(and by extension, transportation of goods through other networks) than our current efforts. We need a naval fleet comparable to the current PLA Navy with at least 4 aircraft carriers.
We'd still largely be dependent on China for freshwater resources through rivers well into the future so best hope our nuclear program progresses swiftly and enables us to build large nuclear powered reverse osmosis plants.
Three, we'd use the one thing that we do have in abundance, agricultural land and modernize it through greenhouse farming to an extent far greater than China. Drive food prices down globally undercutting the competition the way Chinese manufacturing did. Become the new breadbasket for the world and achieve an agricultural economy well above a trillion dollars.
Investing in these, along with manufacturing and services would bring is closer to China's GDP. Certainly can't surpass it, but we can come fairly close.
Which brings me to the next part. The only thing India can have a snowball's chance in dominating is the space sector and making trillions in lunar and interplanetary colonization. But that requires playing the long game, of several decades, maybe even a century, and requires billions of dollars of investment in the space sector from now, and it's result is merely scientific achievements and some dick measuring for the next few decades, before actual resources and trillions flow as asteroid mining is perfected.
